So young, so energetic, so talented, so tech savvy, so passionate, so fun, so hungry… committed to philanthropy and entrepreneurship…committed to succeed. They recognize the leadership opportunity that is before them and they are taking it on, preparing to keep our economy thriving!
It was a pleasure sitting amongst 1000+ millennials at the Millennial Summit in Wilmington, DE August 5-7, 2019. #MillSummit
I found out about the summit about two weeks ago and immediately said “yes”, with the goal to learn more about the millennial culture, expectations and concerns.
As I existed at the summit, I began to ask myself the question, “Are they really so different than everyone else who was once their age?” Certainly the times have changed and technology has advanced, but can’t each of the generations say that?
There really isn’t much difference in them than the former Generations. The commonality is the same as the differences we see.
- Interested in the evolution of technology
- Creators
- Partners
- Inexperienced
- Intelligent
- Go getters
- Powerful
Sure, they are making more non negotiable decisions to not settle for anything less than what they really want to do. They are committed to live out their passion and won’t let anything stop them. They are hungry for learning all that they can to be the best they can be. They are ready to take on the challenge and are doing a fantastic job at it!
But…aren’t you, too?
Needless to say, we must recognize that it’s our responsibility to help them be successful. I leave you with these questions:
- How can we make it easier for them to learn and speed up the learning curve?
- What support do they need to make their dreams a reality?
- What can we learn from each other to keep our world thriving and leave legacies that will make impact beyond our lifetime?
